Ballet course starts on October 4

Tony Rizzi, former principal dancer with the Forsythe Company in Frankfurt/Main, has been teaching ballet for 30 years and is now providing an exciting addition to the course offerings at the FVV: Starting on October 4, a “rond de jambe” will probably be experienced for the first time at one of our dance classes, namely for those who decide to participate in the new ballet course.

On five evenings, the course will provide a first contact with the world of ballet and make it possible to experience that ballet is the basis for almost all forms of modern dance. Participants will not only learn the most important basic positions of ballet, but will also be encouraged to improvise, to find their own movements and to experience dance.

The class is designed so that everyone can participate, whether an experienced dancer or a dance novice. Ballet attire is not required. The class can be attended in t-shirts and sweatpants. Shorts are even better, as this allows the instructor to better follow up on whether the correct leg muscles are being used. Ballet shoes may be worn, but a pair or two of cotton socks on top of each other are just as appropriate.
