1985-2025: 40 years of FVV! We live in an open-minded and liberal city that respects the rights of queer people and promotes an understanding of pluralism, diversity, equal opportunities and democracy. However, as an association with many queer members, we are also very concerned: the acceptance of queer rights is crumbling, backward-looking ideas and organizations are becoming extraordinarily popular and, in fact, the withdrawal of rights that have been fought for is already becoming a legal reality in neighbouring EU countries.
The FVV is a sports club and not a political organization, but as the queer institution with the largest number of members in Hesse, we also want to participate in the social discourse. We will never forget our roots as an LGBTIQ* sports club and oppose social inequality, demand fair participation, want to break down prejudices and offer a safe and non-discriminatory place to everyone who wants or needs it.
Against this backdrop and to mark our 40th anniversary, we will be organizing a series of projects, initiatives and events this year under the patronage of the Lord Mayor and with the support of the Sports Department under the motto “2025 – Queer Sport Campaign Year”, which will have a high profile and broad impact on civil society. The concept is already supported by many cooperation partners and is constantly growing.
