Five golds, two silvers and one bronze across ten events: Hans Andrees, Martin Altmann and Stephanie Radermacher successfully represented FVV at the European Artistic Swimming Championships in Bratislava.
Before the championships, the team received a visit from the Frankfurter Rundschau, resulting in a page-and-a-half profile of Hans and Martin. In Bratislava, they began with two days of training in the competition pool. In the opening technical solo events, Hans won gold, Martin secured silver and Stephanie finished ninth – each in their respective age group.
The following day brought two more titles: Hans and Martin won the men’s technical duet. Hans and Stephanie then delivered a strong performance in the mixed duet to defend their title from Belgrade. The trio also impressed in Friday’s free solo events: Hans claimed another gold, Martin won bronze and Stephanie finished seventh.
After a Saturday of training, rest and sightseeing, Sunday brought the final duet competitions. In the mixed free duet, Hans and Stephanie repeated their gold-medal success from Belgrade. To round off the championships, Hans and Martin secured silver in the men’s duet.
With eight medals and two strong placings across ten events, the team can look back on a successful European Championships. With five gold medals and one silver, Hans was the most successful competitor in the artistic swimming events. Congratulations to our team! Their next big goal is already set: the World Championships in Budapest next year.
