FVV-Relays at the Frankfurt Marathon 2011

ffm marathonThe 30th Frankfurt Marathon was a grand jubilee race: a record number of 15 210 participants (or 25 305 in all competitions) went to the start, the winner Wilson Kipsang missed the world record by only four seconds, the field of women offered world-class times and the the FVV started with two relay teams for the first time.

The results speak for themselves

marathon inNot only the professionals were successful and achieved records. The FVV Running Team number 1 with Andre, Aaron, Pedro and Andreas reached the finish line by 03:02:48 and were 24th in the overall relay ranking. Marc, Marcel, Christoph and Matthias started as team number 2 and made rank 168 of 1596 relay teams.

With temperatures around 12 degrees, almost no wind and an overcast sky, the conditions were almost perfect when the first relay runner startet at 10:30h. The first relay change was after 12 km at Alte Gasse, then the run continued for 7 km through Sachsenhausen, direction Niederrad. The third relay runner had to pass 9,5 km and changed at Nied with the 4th runner, who had to run the last 13,5 km to the finish line. All FVV runners experienced the great atmosphere on the run. Especially the last relay runner could feel the vibe, when entering the Festhalle.

It was a great marathon event and we hope to take part again in 2012, with one or more.
